On Tuesday, 39 of our Key Stage 2 children attended a Cross Country Tournament at the Grammar school, a time to showcase our determination and perseverance. It was a bright if cold morning so a run was actually quite welcome. Year 3/4 ran 1000m and Yr 5/6 ran 1500m. Everyone completed the run and had a good morning.
Away Football Match- 14th January
Weston Hills KS2 football team played an away match against Moulton John Harrox on Monday 14th of January. All team members played a fantastic game, truly demonstrating how far they have come since their first match. The boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were even treated to some bourbon biscuits after the match!
Dance Showcase - South Holland Centre
The Dance Showcase on Tuesday the 29th of January was an enjoyable trip for Weston Hills. Our school was represented by 10 enthusiastic boys and girls from years 5 and 6. The group worked very hard together to create a piece to the music of ‘I like to move it’ and was able to showcase this at the South Holland Center that morning! This was a fantastic opportunity for all the dancers to not only perform onstage but also watch some other amazing performances from primary and secondary schools in the local area. As with all school games a value was chosen to focus on, Tuesday’s being passion! Every pupil demonstrated this fantastically and should be proud!
Sports Hall Athletics- Tuesday 12th February
On Tuesday morning some of Weston Hills’ year fives and sixes pushed themselves to their limits and participated in sports hall athletics through the school games. Children had the opportunity to try many different events such as chest push, relay races as well as an obstacle race! It was a really fun day and we even won some of our heats!
Tri Golf Festival 13th March 2019
Two teams of year 3 and 4 children put their golfing skills to the test on Wednesday through a variety of different golf stations. This included aiming for cones or targets as well as trying to chip balls into a certain area! The children obviously had a talent for this with both teams scoring over 240 points each! The real talent was for sportsmanship though, with Weston Hills coming third place when scored for their fair play and camaraderie. Well done to everyone who participated!
Red Nose Day 2019
Friday 15th March Weston Hills supported Red Nose Day by ‘Aiming High’ and holding an inter-house competition for all classes. KS1 had to aim for Red Nose targets on the wall, whereas KS2 had to shoot into netball hoops for points. Each child had 1 minute to score as many points as they could with points being tallied up in house teams! Some amazing scores were recorded, with the most being Sonny, Oak Class, with a massive 190 points! Fantastic!!
Football Festival 26th March 2019
On Tuesday 20 children from Willow Class ventured out of their comfort zones into a football festival at The Peele School. All the schools were mixed up into random groups so the children were able to make lots of new friends as well as learning some new skills!
Despite some reluctance at the beginning, everybody had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed the coaching and matches provided by the volunteers. We may even have some budding footballers among us with several medals being brought back to school for determination and points!
Year 6 Rounders Competition- 22nd May 2019
Weston Hills represented by 12 individuals from Elm class in a Year 6 Rounders Competition on Wednesday. The team showed amazing sportsmanship and teamwork in their 3 morning matches, coming second out of 10 schools after the first leg before being seeded in the afternoon. The fantastic weather kept the team going throughout the afternoon to secure 4th placed based on rounders scored, and a brilliant 68 points for Teamwork. Massive well done to all those who supported not only their own team, but also the opposition and allowed us to score so highly!
ICC World Cup Cricket Match- West Indies vs Australia
On Wednesday 6th of June a group of KS2 children along with several parents had a fantastic trip to watch a world cup cricket match at Nottingham Trent Bridge. This was an absolutely brilliant match between two very skilled teams. The children were able to learn lots about cricket whilst enjoying the atmosphere of a live sporting event. With fantastic weather as well as other exciting cricket themed activities even the least sporting of us had a thoroughly enjoyable day!!
