With the arrival of the Spring term comes a new topic: All Creatures Great and Small. We are already very excited about this, and are learning in the first week about mammals. Year 1s found out in their literacy that the blue whale is the largest mammal in the world, and that its length is 27 metres. We measured this out in the playground, and then we went outside and stood along the length of the line so we could see just how big the blue whale is!
Because we are now longer using Education City as a school, I would recommend www.phonicsplay.co.uk for phonic resources and information, as the site uses the Letters and Sounds programme which we are using in school and in our both our Reception and Year 1 phonics lessons in Cherry Class. There is an opportunity for a free trial for parents if you are interested.
