Term 4

Show & Tell Oak Class Term 4

This week we have had the school disco, an Easter Egg Hunt, the Easter picture competition and also the Easter square competition.  Well done to everyone that won a prize.

We hope you all have a lovely Easter holiday and we will see you back in school on Tuesday 23rd April 2019.

On Thursday 4th April Joseph Begley from Lincs FM came in to school to talk exclusively to Oak Class!

We told him all about our school, science week and recycling!  It was a bit scary but we were very brave.  Afterwards we chatted with Joseph, asked him some questions and he gave us a Lincs FM bug.  We will be on the radio on Friday 26th April after 8am.

Tuesday 26th March 2019

We are learning about instructions.  Today we followed them to make cakes - looking at the bossy verbs, time conjunctions and how instructions are set out.  Children will be writing their own set of instructions in class.

On Friday 15th March 2019 we celebrated Comic Relief / Red Nose day.  We were very lucky to have Year 6 children Evie and Zachary leading a target shoot activity.  Everybody managed to score and Seth got the highest score of 190!

Thank you for the kind donations and the wonderful outfits.  Your money helps support vulnerable people and communities in the UK and internationally.  We will inform you of the total amount raised throughout the school once all the money is in.

Science Week

WOW!  What an amazing week we have had looking for signs of Spring, places of natural beauty, wildlife and birds, litter picking to improve our local environment and learning all about the affect of litter.

Thank you to everyone that was able to join us for our open afternoon on Tuesday.  We hope you have enjoyed Science Week as much as we have.

World Book Day was celebrated with a 'story forest' assembled in the school hall.  It was wonderful to see such a variety of stories, book styles and authors.  The children enjoyed sharing their books, the memories they evoked and why their chosen title was special to them.

We followed on by grouping into house teams and spending time sharing our special titles.  Everyone had something to say and it was a wonderful reminder of the power of print and what a glorious thing books are.  Every child has been given a sticker and a £1 book voucher.

In Numeracy we have been looking at fractions and fractions of amounts.  We learnt that fractions are equal amounts, that can be shared equally.  We explored the fractions half and quarters.  The number at the bottom of the fraction tells us how many parts to split the amount in to.

We found that some numbers could be halved but not quartered and that odd numbers could not be halved.
