Term 1

NFER - Reception baseline assessment - privacy notice

The past few days in Cherry Class have been very exciting!  We have welcomed our new children in Reception, and are teaching them what it means to be at “big school”.  We are settling in well, getting to know each other, and class routines and expectations.  For the next few weeks, we will be focussing on listening, tidying up when we leave one activity before going onto another, and being kind to each other.  Big Bear has been helping us remember to tidy up; he walks around with his clipboard in his paws, and gives children a sticker and writes their names on his board.

Our Year 1's are also making a good start to the new school year.  We have heard them all read and are doing assessments to help them move on with their phonics , their writing and their maths.  Year 1's are getting used to small group teaching sessions and beginning to work independently on teacher-directed tasks, as well as helping to show the new children how to behave at school.

This week we are trying self-registration, and have had our first PE lesson.  We are all doing so well!
