WORLD BOOK DAY

Thursday 5th March 2020 was World Book Day in school and the children brought in their favourite books from home.  Parents/Carers were invited to join their child from 9 am to 9.30 am or 2.30 pm to 3.00 pm and listen to them share their favourite books and to make a poster of it to.

At 9.30 am the whole school went into the hall for an assembly all about books.  We looked at a wide variety of books, tried to guess the books from the opening line and we also heard a passage from the Bible.

Two children from every class stood at the front and talked about their favourite books.  Freya talked about her book 'Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder' - she likes it because it is very funny.  Cam talked about 'The Hare and the Tortoise' - he likes it because he wants to be as fast as the hare.

EAT THEM TO DEFEAT THEM!

During this term we are focusing on healthy eating and eating fruit and vegetables.  We are joining in with the National vegetable power initiative 'EAT THEM TO DEFEAT THEM'.  Your child has brought home a challenge envelope this week with a sticker chart and stickers inside it.  Every time you child eats a vegetable, e.g. carrot, they will need to put a sticker on the relevant picture until all 3 stickers are attached.  Once all the vegetables have 3 stickers, the chart is complete and can be returned to school.

On Monday 24th February Chef Darren, from Roots to Food, came in to school for the day to teach children how to make Teriyaki Chicken and Bombay Noodles.  Chef Darren taught us to make a claw with our hand or a bridge so that we didn't cut our fingers with the knife.  Oak Class were so well behaved, listened so attentively and enjoyed this experience so much, especially when they got to eat it!
