Term 5

On Thursday 23rd May we had our last cricket session with Miss Hill and we had a game of cricket outside in the sunshine.  We built on the skills we have learned over the previous weeks to compete in a full match.  Our batting and catching skills have shown improvement.

Thank you Miss Hill for 5 fantastic weeks!

On Wednesday 22nd May we released our 'Painted Lady Butterflies'.  The caterpillars came in a cup with all the nutritious food and moisture they needed to grow.  We watched them grow, become chrysalides and then emerge as butterflies.  As we have a sunny afternoon with no wind it was the perfect opportunity to unzip the habitat and patiently wait for the butterflies to fly away.  Butterflies are important and helpful members of our environment.

Wednesday 15th May 2019

This week we have continued work on our pirate maps, making them look old and authentic.  This involved using cold tea!

Our telescopes are well underway ..... we see no ships yet!  Thank you to all parents that have supplied tubes and bottles for our pirate activities, especially those that brought in spares for others.  The children are thoroughly enjoying everything pirate themed.

Thursday 9th May 2019

During this weeks cricket lesson we had to improve our aiming skills to knock off the stumps.  We then had to roll balls underarm through gaps in the stumps to score a goal.  Next we took it in turns to bat a ball off a tee and run around the cones, whilst the fielders had to return the balls as quickly as possible.  We look forward to Miss Hill's cricket lesson every week!

Thursday 2nd May 2019 - Chance to Shine Cricket

Miss Hill came in again this week to teach us how to throw tennis balls at stumps and inside hoops.  We were then allowed to bat the ball!  The fielders had to get the balls back as quickly as possible and the batters had to try to hit the balls off the cones with cricket bats.

Welcome back to the start of the Summer term.  We hope you all had an enjoyable holiday.

On Thursday 25th April Miss Hill from Chance to Shine Cricket came into school and taught us some cricket skills including fielding skills.  We really enjoyed this 45 minute session and cannot wait to learn more skills next week!
