Term 6

Week beginning 3rd June 2019

Welcome to Term 6 - We hope you all had a very good half term holiday.  As this week is music week, each class will learn and practise different ways to express  Afro-American Scott Joplin's music, The Entertainer. He was a well known artist for the development of Jazz in 1940 in the UK.  Our children chose their instruments and practised a slightly different version of The Entertainer.

This week the children discussed how to persuade people to vote for the party group and prepare a speech.  Children put a lot of thought into what they each wanted to represent, why they wanted to choose this area and how they would go about changing things like the Environment, Forces and Education.  Debates were held mid-week and the children then gave their party speech as to why they should be voted.  Voting will be held next week!
For Literacy, the children researched and wrote a biography of Scott Joplin.  In Numeracy, they created different ways of showing their investigations and how these could be recorded to see how statistics affect our lives.  In Science, the children were able to explore how plants and animals adapt to their environment.
In preparation for our Start Project Performance at the South Holland Centre, the children made a collage of crocodiles and made a poster to help advertise the event.  They have been practising really hard;  we hope you can come and see all their hard work!
Our children wanted to see how the vegetable plot was growing and everyone helped to weed the plot.  We have spring onions, potatoes and cabbages growing in our section.
Our core Christian School Values are: FAITH, HOPE & LOVE This year we will explore the core values through: Hope, Community, Dignity, Wisdom, Joy and Peace.
