Term 2

Oak Class Nativity 2022!

In Maths we are learning to tell the time.  We are looking at o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to.  Please practise these times at home as much as possible.

Friday 25th November

Today in Art we learned about Andy Goldsworthy, who is a 'Land Artist'.  He uses natural materials to make collages.  We went outside to collect our own materials then used them to create some amazing Art work!

Friday 18th November 2022

Today in Art we made sculptures using wire and we looked at Louise Bourgeois giant spider sculpture 'Maman'.

Wednesday 16th November 2022

Today in PHSE we looked at resilience and the feelings we experience when we fail or struggle with somethings and how to overcome these.  We also looked at the feelings we experience when we succeed at something.  First we watched a quick video on how to make a paper boat and then it was all down to us.  We all found it a very interesting lesson.

Wednesday 9th November 2022

In PE today we practised Yoga.  We enjoyed learning new yoga positions.

Friday 4th November 2022

In our Topic work this week we have been looking at materials in our classroom.  We have been cutting, sorting and pasting objects under the columns of plastic, wood, metal and glass.

Welcome back to Term 2 in Oak Class.

This term our topic is 'Flying High'.  We started by making protective armour for our eggs, before dropping them from a great height.  We were pleasantly surprised when some of our eggs survived!

The children in Oak Class are also learning about adjectives which are describing words, verbs which are doing words and nouns which refers to people, places, things or ideas.

In Guided Reading we are continuing to work hard on our fluency, using expression and being able to answer questions about the text afterwards.

In ICT we are looking at algorithms and physically coded Bee-Bots to complete a challenge.

Our core Christian School Values are: FAITH, HOPE & LOVE This year we will explore the core values through: Hope, Perseverance, Generosity, Respect, Courage and Friendship.
