We define 'curriculum' as the totality of a child's experience at Weston Hills Church of England Primary School, ensuring that they are secondary school ready with the right knowledge but also with the right skills for the next stage of their educational journey.
At Weston Hills Church of England Primary School, we value the uniqueness of each individual child, recognising and nurturing their potential for learning. Our aim, through our tailor-made curriculum, is to enable each child to learn about the world, one another and God so as to fully participate in current and future society as a responsible, self-confident citizen; Learning for life in a community that cares.
Our curriculum has been designed with the following principles; it reflects the background and experience of our pupils; it is outward-facing, setting learning in local and global contexts wherever possible and celebrates diversity to emphasises unity.
We see to provide a broad, balanced, ambitious curriculum which is language rich and builds cultural capital.
In EYFS and KS1 we use 'Letters and Sounds' as our Phonics scheme and our main reading schemes are: Rigby Star, Oxford Reading Tree and Songbirds phonics with the sequence of reading books being matched closely to reflect our chosen phonics programme.
