We also discussed the 8 points of a compass. Our discussion led us on to the app, What.3.words. We learnt that they had divided the world into 3x3 m square and each square is given 3 random words. We talked about how this can be useful in a emergency situation and don't know where you are.

We investigated how effective different shapes of leaf are at draining water from its leaves to prevent it from breaking or photosynthesising. We also looked how the shape of the human skull has evolved over the last 3.5 million years.

We have learnt that plants adapt to their environment from necessity. Plants may also adapt by growing lower and closer to the ground to shield themselves from wind and cold. Desert environments may have some of the following adaptations, these help the plant to conserve food, energy and water and still be able to reproduce effectively.

We have discussed what makes a piece of writing outstanding. The use of fronted adverbials; adjectives; nouns; prepositions; alliteration; personification; onomatopoeia's and much more. We just have to remember to use these in our writing.
