Week 7
Parents Reading in Class
Thank you to all the parents/grandparents who could join us this week to create new book covers for our favourite books. Well done to all the children who completed their covers and gave them in- well earned gold stickers!
Our Class Library
Today we went through the books in the classroom and in the school library to find new ones for our class bookshelf that we thought would be interesting to have out in Tern 2. Please remember to borrow them- it would be great to have even more Star Readers every Friday (our highest number is 19/29 so far).
Column Methods for Addition and Subtraction
We continued our work using Base 10 and pictures to understand the column written method for adding and subtracting.
Week 6
Imprinting and Engraving in Clay
Boccia Competition- bronze medals!
Week 5
Time to Take Our Pots Home
Muscles
We found out about how our muscles work in pairs to help us move by creating a model of the bicep and tricep in our arm.
Hand Ball
Another new game! It was great fun. Letters have already gone out for the competition in a couple of weeks time.
Making Replica Roman Coins
Coins are so important to archaeologists as they can help to date a place by looking at the Emperor on the coin.
Week 4
Science
Can people with longer femurs jump further? We investigated!
Flag Fen
We took part in four fantastic activities- an archaeological dig, meet the Roman soldier, handling Celtic artefacts in the roundhouse and creating a Roman style clay drinking vessel. The leaders of the activities said that our school was SO well behaved! This is great to hear as apparently not every school behave in the same way as our children- a credit to Weston Hills School community.
Computing Animation
This week we moved on from stick people to using paper backgrounds and characters to develop our skills.
Mosaics
Taking inspiration from what we saw at Flag Fen, we created our own mosaics.
Week 3
Flag Fen Trip
We still have a few missing permission slips. Please remember to return as we will be visiting Flag Fen on WEDNESDAY then following up the trip with lots of work in class.
Stop-frame Animation
Last week flick books, this week iMotion on the iPads.
Week 2

Searching for nutritional information on food packaging. What does it all mean?
Clay Pots Investigating
Boccia
Sport2Day joined us again for the first time this year to help us practise our Boccia skills. A fun session!
Week 1- Honey!
We ended our first 3 days with a taste of nature thanks to Nicole who brought in some of her Dad's honeycomb full of honey. This fitted in well with our afternoon's work about nutrition.
Welcome!
We have had a FANTASTIC first day- well done to all 29 children. Fabulous!
PE- please make sure that children come to school wearing their PE kit on Mondays and Wednesdays.
