Term 3

Week 6

Blue Peter Badge Application

We have finished our application so they are now being sent home to parents and carers to sign then post in the envelopes we have provided for you (don't forget a stamp!). Fingers crossed there will be a number of successful applicants from Holly Class! yes

Fire!

We burnt down the wood to create ashes for our paintings just like the stone age people would have done (but we also toasted marshmallows which the stone age man would NOT have done!!). Tomorrow we will use these remains as greys and black for our designs along with the broken chalk and sandstone for oranges and white.

Our Stone Age Art Work Using Ashes and Rocks

African Drumming

Another amazing visit from Dave with another type of drums. He really brings the music to life for us.

Fossilisation Process

To help us understand this tricky concept, we have been busy making 'fake fossils' using dog treats, icing sugar, candy floss, Play Dough and food colouring!!

Week 5

Dance

Today was the finale of our Spy Dance- it looked great!

Worms, worms and more worms!

We love them!

Our New Little Friends

Volleyball

Mr Pickett was back in today to teach us some volleyball skills ready for the girls competitions in Holbeach in 2 weeks time. Who will be picked for the team?

Week 3

Bikeability

A huge well done to the Year 4s who took part in our Bikeability session in the FREEZING cold. They tried so hard and definitely deserved gold cards for their perseverance (even when then fingers and toes wanted to give up!)

Science

We have started our work about soil this week which has led to some great conversations!

One idea I have shared with the children is how to make a mini composter. These are the instructions, if you are interested:

Week 2

Science- Investigating which of our rocks is hardest to fix the potholes in Weston Hills!

Flint Tools

Week 1

Science- Investigating Minerals and Rocks

Measuring Length Using Different Units and Equipment

Gymnastics

Hungry Hippos warm up game- great fun!

Happy New Year!

We hope that everyone has had a great Christmas with lots of laughter and fun.

Our new term is going to be a short term compared to before Christmas but will be a good one with our topic being a history based one- Set in Stone. We will start in the early Stone Age and continue through to the Iron Age in just 5 1/2 weeks.

Our Science topic is Rocks and Soils where we will be finding out how soils are formed, the properties of a range of different rocks and, of course our favourite, fossils!

Please remember that this term's PE days are Mondays and Wednesdays.

We look forward to welcoming the children back on Wednesday morning. heart

Flag Fen

Flag Fen near Peterborough is a great place to take your child to visit to see an actual reconstructed Bronze Age roundhouse and be able to go inside to get a feel for life at this time. There is also part of a Roman road that can be stood on.

If you visit, please be sure to send photos in for us to share in class.
