A young carer can be recognised because of various factors.
Who can identify as a Young Carer (YC)?
In school, we can support families through an Early Help Assessment to ask for a range of external support agencies to become involved -such as BRIC or the Young Carer’s team so the children can register and attend groups/ holiday activities for rest bite.
If you feel your child/ren are young carers please speak to an adult in school and we can provide more information.
We provide various levels of support in school:
We can identify the child/ren in school and only monitor in school.
We can identify the child/ren in school and your child/ren can attend an after school club.
We can identify the child/ren in school and they attend young carers or mini carers externally, after we have helped you complete the forms.
When a child has been identified as a young carer we complete a support plan so staff can quickly identify an ‘off day’ for the young carer. We also ensure that the child feels supported in school.
Here are the links for Young Carers Lincolnshire. You can contact them and apply, please let us know if you have so that we can support the children in school.
