Welcome to Term 6

SKEGNESS AQUARIUM AND BEACH OUTING

On Wednesday 3rd July we went to Skegness Aquarium along with Cherry Class for our annual outing.

We were mesmerised looking at all the under water creatures, especially the sharks!  After lunch we threw off our shoes and ran onto the beach.  Some of us played in the sand whilst a lot of us paddled in the sea.  It was great fun and everyone had huge smiles from ear to ear.  We splashed, we jumped waves, we got wet and we loved it!

Friday 28th June 2024

Today Jan Morris came into school from Lincolnshire Stay Safe Partnership to talk to Year 1 and Year 2 children about our emotions.  We decided that our favourite emotion is happy and we learnt that all our emotions are important.  Jan taught us that thinking, distraction, movement, relaxation and space are 5 great tools to help us with our emotions.

We held up 5 fingers, took a deep breath and blew down each of our finger candles one by one.  This '5 candles on a cake' activity is a really helpful way to regulate our emotions.

Finally, when your'e ready, talk to someone!

Tuesday 25th June 2024

Today the children in Year 1 and Year 2 attended the Music Festival at Ayscoughfee Hall School.  In the morning we learnt new songs, heard other schools sing and we then performed 'Wilf is a Woodlouse' to all the other schools that were attending. (Ayscoughfee Hall school staff commented that we were the youngest children there and that they sang and behaved amazingly)!

We then walked to Ayscoughfee Hall gardens and had a picnic in the grounds.  In the afternoon we watched 'Travelling by Tuba' and lots of children from our school was chosen to get up on stage and help, which proves how well we were sat!

Well done to all the Year 1 and Year 2 children - you did Weston Hills School proud!

Wednesday 19th June 2024

Today we had Mr Pickett join us from Sport 2 Day.  We practised 6 stations of throwing, jumping and catching before playtime.

After play Mr Pickett recorded our scores and we will compete against other schools.
