Happy New Year!
Holly Class staff wish everyone a happy and successful 2026.
Our topic for this term is... Dinosaurs! The children are excited about finding out more about these amazing creatures.
We will be looking at key facts about some of the 700 different dinosaurs throughout the millions of years that they were alive.
Our focus study person is Mary Anning, looking at all the important work she did in her life time related to fossils and uncovering the past in a time when it was extremely difficult for women (especially poor women) to be taken notice of.
In Computing, we will develop our programming using BluBots whilst in Digital Literacy, we will be covering Online Bullying.
It is our swimming term (on Thursdays) and we will also be doing dance as our other PE session.
The work of Eric Carle is our inspiration in Art and the Grandma Rap is our song to help us learn about beat work and notation.
Parents in Class will continue on Wednesdays when we will be spending 15 minutes on some key Maths points for you to practise at home with your child.

Filming our final presentations using the iPads.

Finished Fossils

Rapper Alim Kamara
As part of National Story Telling Week, we joined rapper Alim's Zoom call to find out more about how to tell stories through rap (Rhythm And Poetry). He was incredibly energetic and enthusiastic! The children have brought a sheet home tonight to write some ideas down with parents before we have a go at writing our own raps in English next week.
Grandma Rap
We have put so much time and effort into creating our 'Rap Round' called Grandma's Rap. Enjoy!
Have a watch of our performance!
