Term 5

Computing - Using the app Tinker the children have been creating their very own 3D houses.

Topic Movie - Friday we completed our Topic by watching the movie of the book we have been reading, 'Goodnight Mr Tom' the children got comfortable and watched the Movie with interest some may have even shed a tear (not that i'm sure they'll admit to it).

Lincoln Cathedral Church Festival - Yr 6 Children from various school around the county were invited to Lincoln Cathedral to take part in various activities including looking at a Roman stone carving,  building a Nordic Wall using replica historical bricks, there was even opportunities for the children to dress  in  Medieval attire.  The service then took place, the children participated in some songs readings and then paraded the school flags and lit a candle.

English - Linked to our topic we have been reading 'Goodnight Mr Tom', a novel set in the War about an evacuee called William sent from London to a small countryside village to live with Mr Tom.

The children have drafted and completed a letter home to London from William to his mum. Though the children have enjoyed this task it has been somewhat challenging, we have been teaching them to write using correct spelling and punctuation with well formed grammatical language. However, this week asked them to forget all that and write a letter from William a boy who can not read or write and speaks with a London accent. So, for the children to write using slang and shortened or abbreviated  words was quite a task, one they all did extremely well. Good job!!

Maths - This weeks lessons have been rather different. We've had various Maths related challenges to complete,

The case of the missing trophy

A Treasure Hunt

An Escape room

all the clues were Maths related and the class worked in teams to complete the tasks to find the trophy, the code and some treasure well of sorts - Izzy and Emily E found it -  Spam and Stilton was not what was expected.
